Tree pruning is the most common tree maintenance procedure. When done correctly pruning can improve tree health, structure, safety, aesthetics or views. Improper pruning can cause damage that will last the life of the tree or worse shorten the trees life.
The most common pruning mistakes are incorrect location of cut, topping trees and the use of climbing spurs to access the tree. Chatham Tree Services employees are trained to make proper pruning cuts to allow the tree to seal off decay.
Prune the proper amount of foliage to maintain tree health. Climbing spurs are used only on trees to be removed. All trimming is done by rope climbing that does not damage the tree or with an aerial device if access allows.
